A few words about this way of working . . .

From first reading of the original Focusing book by Gene Gendlin I was drawn to Clearing a Space and then most interested in how adding basic art making to this activity helped me: reduce stress, manage anxiety, digest grief & loss, cope with complex emotions and deal with my job, relationships, creative projects or everyday life situations with greater lightheartedness, insight and balance.

I am not a life coach, counsellor or therapist and I do not imagine it is my job to offer advice or guidance about anything to anyone. My practice is to notice whatever I can sense with as much clarity, depth, neutrality and groundedness as I can muster, and check if I can let a little playfulness be there too while I clear a space from either: whatever has me in its grip or what I can't easily let go of.

Just staying there and not doing much more than breathing into that opening and the bodily felt sense of relief that accompanies this activity ( should I actually manage to do it effectively ) is a lot. From there . . . I can sense into any actions I need to take in order to find the energy I will need to move forward ~ as my whole self, through situations, creative projects, health issues or 'stuckness'.    I wonder if doing just that much ~ is actually more than enough?

Of course, there is always the option of exploring some element of the sometimes fragmented complexity we sense in ourselves.  If I manage to clear a space and am able to just rest there a little then I usually find some energy flows from doing just that alone.

Who is Listening?

I found both group and 1 to 1 sessions deeply nourishing, it felt possible and safe to explore what was showing up.
